• The defendant’s personal and criminal history.
• The chances that the defendant will not return to court after being released on bail.
• The safety of the defendant, another person, or the general public.

Bail bond agencies do charge nonrefundable fees for their services, however, which is usually about 10 percent of the bail amount.
